Well last week our family went to family camp (think – youth camp – for the whole family!). It’s called the Great Family Adventure – and boy was it a week of fun!
We had church services, of course!
Kid’s game time…
Creeking in the river…
and tried our hand at archery.
We got to meet the critters in the campground’s Nature Center…
Went zip lining…
had late night campfires…
…and what’s a vacation without an injury or two?!? My oldest daughter wiped out on her bike one day. And then my youngest closed his hand in a door. {sigh}
All this fun and adventure got me thinking about vacations. Specifically, how rarely ministry families go on vacation. I have no stats, other than my nearly 20 years of experience to support this theory. But I have seen it enough to know it’s a regular and recurring issue.
For many reasons, whether pastors are anxious to leave their church community for a stretch of time, or probably more because they feel they can’t afford a vacation, ministry families are known for not getting enough time away for rest and rejuvenation.
I’m not interested in making a case for the “why” of taking a vacation. Rather, I’d like to write a few posts about how to get your family away for some rest and rejuvenation. It’s possible on the most limited budget, I assure you! So next week, I’ll be doing a couple posts with ideas for “getting away.” {take note of the quotes.

Have a great weekend of ministry my friends!

It was SUCH a fun week and a great time to connect as a family and connect with other families and friends!
Wasn’t it?? I’m already looking forward to next year!
