About Me

Here’s the deal: we’re ministers, we’re minister’s wives, we’re moms. We’re juggling all kinds of responsibilities. Some days we succeed, and some days, well…we don’t.

Women in ministry have to sort out how to be married mothers who must maintain our homes and deal with this crazy life called “ministry.” We’re daily trying to figure out how to run our homes more efficiently, how to grow little people into amazing, compassionate and God-fearing adults, how to love the people in our churches whom God has entrusted to us, and all the while keep it together.

That’s why I blog here at Ministry Momma: a community created to help each other live this crazy life called “ministry” and all the curveballs it throws at us!

Julie

My name is JulieAnn Pratt. Being the daughter of a minister myself, I’ve been raised “in the fishbowl” and still actually chose to go into the ministry as an adult! (All you preacher’s kids out there know how awe-inspiring this is!)

I’ve got a beautiful family~I’ve been married for 17 years, and we have 3 children ages 11 years, 7 years, and 5 years.

I have been in the ministry for 19 years serving first as a Music Pastor and in Family Ministry. Together with my husband, we have also served as Youth Pastors, Associate Pastors, and Lead Pastors. I was the Director of Traveling Ministries at Zion Bible College (Haverhill, MA), teaching students in the area of Practical Ministry. Now I serve as a Family Life Pastor for a great community of believers in Columbus, Ohio. I have authored articles on ministry life and parenting; and have appeared on radio, speaking on raising children intentionally. I continue to be involved in training next generation ministers through teaching, training, and mentoring.

I am honored to speak to groups across the country. Churches, conferences, seminars and retreats. Women’s groups, mom’s groups, and family classes. Groups looking for a fresh, young, biblically-based approach to this crazy life and all the curveballs it throws at you. For more information, check out my speaking topics or just contact me and we can talk about what you are looking for.

So what are my favorite things? Here’s a start:

  1. The sound of my husband’s early morning prayer and devotions
  2. My kids all piled on my bed in the mornings giggling, and tickling, and yes, even the kicking, and poking (thank goodness for my king size bed! LOL)
  3. The sound of the ocean – I promise I’m going to retire by the ocean (even if I can’t swim!)
  4. SUSHI!
  5. COFFEE! (with almond milk and stevia please)
  6. Sassy shoes
  7. Reese’s Peanut Butter cups
  8. Singing – I’m always humming something…usually “Be patient, be patient, don’t be in such a hurry…” Anyone know that one?

    Hey Julie,
It was so great to visit your website. I have a lot of “spiritual food” to slowly start consuming. I loved it!! Regarding to your favorite things, we matched in some of them: KIDS in my bed (specially Saturday mornings), my husband praying and having his devotionals in the early morning or sometimes very, very, very late at nigh! Coffee, it has to be a DD Hazelnut with cream and sugar, it can be hot or ice coffee, it’s just the same to me! and last, but no least SHOES!!

I put your blog in my favorites, so I’ll be one of your readers!! I just was reading my Bible in Psalm 62 and verse 1a is so great ” Truly my soul silently waits for God” that is what I am right now, waiting in HIM.

    Blessings!!
    Claudia

Enjoyed your article – we need to bring back the OT practice of binding the scriptures to the doorpost, talking about the as we walk along the road and more eanestly teaching them to our children. Our families need to be immersed.

One caution: Splenda is bad for your health. Read “Seven Pillars of Health” by Dr. D. Colbert
