Go Read This Great Article About My Friend Anne Bates!

One of my closest friends was interviewed by Women in Ministry about her role as Associate Pastor at Crossroads Church in Weymouth, MA. She’s an awesome example of accepting and fulfilling the call of God on your life.

Anne has been a friend among friends. She’s true, trustworthy, faithful, forgiving, and honest. We have been accountability partners for a few years now. She’s awesome.

Can you tell I kinda think she’s cool? :)

I hope you’ll go check out her interview here!

Dear Restless Heart: A Poem of Encouragement by Edith Willis Linn

This beautiful poem speaks for itself.

Dear restless heart, be still; don’t fret and worry so;
God has a thousand ways His love and help to show;
Just trust, and trust, and trust, until His will you know.

Dear restless heart, be still, for peace is God’s own smile,
His love can every wrong and sorrow reconcile;
Just love, and love, and love, and calmly wait awhile.

Dear restless heart, be brave; don’t moan and sorrow so,
He hath a meaning kind in chilly winds that blow;
Just hope, and hope, and hope, until you braver grow.

Dear restless heart, repose upon His breast this hour,
His grace is strength and life, His love is bloom and flower;
Just rest, and rest, and rest, within His tender power.

Dear restless heart, be still! Don’t struggle to be free;
God’s life is in your life, from Him you may not flee;
Just pray, and pray, and pray, till you have faith to see.     by Edith Willis Linn

Praying each of you will be encouraged today! Blessings on your ministry tomorrow. May souls be affected for eternity’s sake.

He Is Good

Do you ever sit and contemplate all that is good in your life? I mean, *really* think about it? I’m laying in bed (yes I’m in bed at 8:45 p.m. …shush!) tabulating and realizing the depth and breadth of the goodness of God. Beginning with the simple fact that He came to earth to save me…little ‘ol, broken, emotional and (probably) aggravation-inducing me. Despite that He gave me a husband whom I adore (we’ve been dating for 17 years now), and blessed us with 3 kiddos who light up our life. Mix in physical healing, prayers answered, prayers NOT answered, the darkest of nights that ended in due season, and the happiest of seasons we hardly feel we deserve. Add to that personal stretching, changes of outlook, realization of strengths, and admitting our weaknesses.

All of this due to the depth and breadth of God’s love. Because He takes us on a journey. This journey has an end-game. Sometimes that’s all we’re gunning after-the end of the story. Today, in the good times of life in the ministry and the bad; in all the seasons it brings-active in outward ministry, or not; in the wondering, the waiting, the praying; the times we take action and the times when we choose stillness; in whatever season you find yourself remember this: He Is Good.

New Beginnings: One Word

So I was browsing on Pinterest (just get used to it. it’s a permanent new fixture in my life), and saw this great printable.

And, well, because your typical list of New Year’s Resolutions just seems to get blown, but I love to look at the new season ahead of me and think about how I’d like it to take shape, I thought this slightly different way of thinking about the New Year might be cool!

The idea is to focus your year by choosing one word. For me it is: Reaching.

I want to reach my goals. I want to reach more people for Christ. I want to reach out to Pastor’s wives and women in ministry. I want to teach my kids to reach for the stars.

And I want to do this in very practical ways: through the blog, through my speaking opportunities, through my individual interactions, through planning, and not planning so I can seize the moments. By being adventurous, and curious, and honest, and caring and helpful, and loving. By teaching, and listening. By serving and by praying.

I’m so excited about new beginnings and my quest to keep Reaching!

Happy New Year & Next Season! I Love New Beginnings

So excited that the year has changed and is bringing with it the next season of life! In the immediate, it’s the new look and organization of the blog! I’ve been really looking forward to this thing. Since I wanted it to go live on the first of the year, I decided this was how I was going to spend my New Year’s Eve.

Doesn’t the glow on my glasses make me look so…studious. Well, at some point around, I dunno, 12:30 a.m. I started getting a little crazy. I actually thought this would be a relatively simple transition. I have no explanation for this momentary lapse in judgment.

You can actually *see* me beginning to go crazy! Hmmm…I have no shame. But finally at some point (check out the time on my screen)…

…it started to make sense. Amazing what clarity develops in the middle of the night. Anywho…

I’m hoping the new look and layout will begin to more clearly define what this whole thing is about: Pastor’s wives and women in ministry. And here’s the thing: the majority (and, of course, I know there are exceptions) of women in ministry have to sort out how to be married mothers who must maintain our homes and deal with this crazy life called “ministry.” We’re daily trying to figure out how to run our homes more efficiently, how to grow little people into amazing, compassionate and God-fearing adults, how to love the people in our churches whom God has entrusted to us, and all the while keep it together.

So, here we have it:

Ministry Momma – a forum for all of us to help each other live this crazy life called “ministry” and all the curveballs it throws at us!

Scripture Friday – 12/23/11 He Is Here!

What Hope! What Peace! What Joy is offered to us in the coming of our Messiah!

Luke 2:9-14

Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened,  but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news of great joy for everyone!  The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!  And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!”  Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God:  ”Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors. “

Scripture Friday – 12/16/11 Advent week 3

This third week of Advent we are full of Joy for the coming of our Messiah!

Psalm 59:16 NLT

But as for me, I will sing about your power. I will shout with joy each morning because of your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety in the day of distress.

Scripture Friday – 12/09/11 Advent Week 2

The first week of Advent we focused on the hope we have in our coming Messiah. This second week of Advent symbolizes peace.

Ezekiel 34:15 NLT

I myself will tend my sheep and cause them to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign LORD.

Scripture Friday – 12/02/11 The Beginning of the Month of Advent

As we begin the Advent Season, I wanted to focus on the joy of our coming Messiah each Friday.  So this first week in Advent, we remember with anticipation the birth of the coming Messiah – HE is our hope.

Psalm 147:11

Rather, the LORD’s delight is in those who honor him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Advent Begins Today!

Today is the beginning of the Advent season! If you’ve never considered this holiday tradition in your home (or your church) I’d encourage you to. Looking for some resources to help you celebrate? There’s a few I’d recommend.

Have a great final day of vacation (and all of us pastor’s wives said…”Vacation? Today? Yeah, right! ;) )
